The page view looks like a simple browser, but it's actually a WYSIWYG
editor, just like a simple word processor. It is built on several main precepts:
- Direct manipulation - there aren't any hidden dialog boxes requiring
expert knowledge. To manipulate any object, it's usually sufficient to just
manipulate the selection handles or to double-click the object.
- Drag and drop - you can drag text or graphics from any other
pages, and from any other Macintosh application that supports drag &drop! (The Apple Scrapbook, for example.)
- The row of buttons along the top give you direct controls for formatting
and inserting objects.
- The edit/preview toggle button flips you between editing the
page and previewing it (i.e. following the links). You will use this
button a lot, so we've made it big and easy to hit!
- The title field can be typed into at any time. (Of course, you
can just drag & drop text to it, too.)
- The document proxy is used for linking. Make sure to read about
linking to learn more about this!
- The Link Display Bar both displays the address of a link, and
also lets you type in external URL addresses directly (just click into it!).
